How did Oracle’s acquisition affect the product map? Absolutely, the road map was bigger. We are going to more countries than ever as an independent company, we are attacking more verticals and even micro-verticals, and for us there are usually more resources to create the functionality that customers want.
NetSuite Co-founder Evan Goldberg Interview About Future Strategy
Has the global scope of Oracle reached, helped NetSuite enter new markets?
On the international front, Oracle is present in countries where we were not even close to when we were an independent company. And therefore the ability – if we can get a product there, they can get it for the customer and realize it – this is an excellent opportunity for us.
Was there a lot of integration between Oracle and NetSuite products?
There are so many excellent Oracle technologies with which we can integrate, and we try not to boil the ocean. We chose a few to start. Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service is really important functionality for our customers, so we make deep integration. Oracle has a warehouse management product called LogFire, which is suitable for our wholesale distribution, so this is another area in which we integrate. We integrate with some of the Taleo Business Edition from Oracle that are suitable for the size market that we are attacking, and some of the HCM areas that NetSuite does not cover.
Are there any new business directions that you want to get into?
We have verticals in which we are strong, and we double there, and they really complement the verticals that attack other Oracle applications, so we really double them, and it really is related to broader vertical and industry-specific functionality such as retail, and then, for example, narrowing to retail clothing, and then further narrowing it, for example, to bookstores on the campus, which are in fact mostly based on clothing, but, for example, have a specialized function for textbooks. Therefore, we accept and create industry-specific and vertical specific publications up to the micro-vertical level and create advanced methods for these types of companies.
What are NetSuite goals for 2018?
Well, some of our goals, continue the investments that we have made since the acquisition in countries, and therefore we will expand rapidly in Europe, we will expand rapidly in Asia, we are going to build some of the complex functions that you need to get into countries that represent excellent opportunities, but also have many problems – India, Brazil, China. Here are some of the most interesting things that we are going to see in 2018.
